Welcome to saltanah.com!

The goal of our group is to preserve and present traditional and popular Middle Eastern music in the Washington DC greater area, by the following means:

  • Producing concerts, lecture / demonstrations and other shows
  • Organizing workshops and shows for visiting artists
  • Providing contacts for members of the public interested in studying Middle Eastern music, or in hiring musicians for their events.

In these pages you will find information about Middle Eastern music and the instruments that we play, some of our upcoming events, photos from previous events, and information about the different kinds of groups that we offer.

We were happy with the way they turned out, so we decided to make a video to go with them! One of our musicians from the recording session was not available to be in the video, but you can still enjoy his audio contributions.

Songs featured in this video:
Lama Bada Yatta Thana (muwashsha, Selim el-Masri)
Al Hilwa Di (Sheikh Sayid Darwish)
Ah Ya Zeyn (folklore)
